The role involves designing and maintaining interactive dashboards, collaborating with various departments to support strategic decisions, and ensuring compliance with data governance standards.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as Tableau Site Administrator: create, prioritize, and oversee project organization; review and certify content; manage user roles and permissions.

• Lead the design and deployment of high-impact Tableau dashboards that support university-wide initiatives, with particular emphasis on student retention, progression, and engagement metrics linked to SUCCESS funding priorities.

• Collaborate closely with leadership and staff across the Division of Student Success, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, ITS, and other units to identify data needs and create tailored dashboards that support institutional and student success goals.

• Gather, clean, and prepare data for analytics and visualization; ensure data sources are valid, reliable, and aligned with institutional definitions and data governance standards.

• Exercise a high degree of autonomy in developing data models, analytical methods, and visual design frameworks to translate complex data into informative, user-friendly dashboards.

• Ensure Tableau integration with multiple data sources, manage data refresh schedules, and support centralized access and single sign-on (SSO) configuration.

• Lead efforts to ensure dashboards and data products meet accessibility standards and comply with FERPA and other data privacy regulations.

• Support data storytelling and dashboard training for institutional stakeholders; guide functional areas in interpreting and applying data insights for continuous improvement.

• Contribute to the development of data-informed practices that guide the planning, assessment, and evaluation of student-facing programs, especially those tied to SUCCESS funding and other strategic initiatives.

• Stay current on developments in higher education analytics and visualization tools; apply industry best practices in dashboard design, data interpretation, and user engagement.

• Develop and maintain documentation for data sources, reporting processes, and user access protocols.

• Represent Institutional Effectiveness and Institutional Research on various cross-functional committees and working groups.

• Provide ad hoc analytical and consultative support across university divisions.

• Accountable for ensuring that equal opportunity, inclusion, and equity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree.

• Proven experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server, with a strong portfolio of interactive dashboards.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment in managing complex analytics projects.

• Proficiency in data modeling and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.

• Experience working with data sources such as SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Excel, or similar.

• Strong communication and data storytelling skills with the ability to present to non-technical audiences.

• Commitment to supporting student success in a diverse, inclusive university environment.

• Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and capacity to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

• Experience in a higher education setting, particularly within institutional research or student success initiatives.

• Familiarity with higher education data structures (e.g., enrollment, course registration, financial aid, retention, and graduation metrics).

• Tableau Certification (e.g., Tableau Desktop Specialist or Certified Professional).

• Experience with additional tools such as Power BI, R, Python, or data lakehouse platforms.

• Knowledge of data governance, data privacy, and FERPA compliance practices.
