Job Title: Phlebotomist – Laboratory
Location: Rochester, NY 14626
Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Shift: Night, 5x8-hour shifts (04:00 – 12:30)
Block Schedules: Not available
Duration: 8 weeks
Orientation: 16 hours (non-billable)
Seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join a hospital-based laboratory team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, proficiency in all blood collection techniques, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient collections efficiently during night shifts.
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections for patients of all ages.
Properly collect, label, and handle specimens, ensuring integrity and accurate identification.
Utilize appropriate collection tubes, including:
Gray top (Fluoride, Potassium Oxalate)
Green top (Heparin, Ammonia)
Light blue top (Coagulation)
Purple top (EDTA)
Red top (Plain)
Perform finger sticks and Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) collections as needed.
Apply aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and specimen quality.
Prioritize patient collections based on order urgency (STAT, timed, routine).
Support hospital staff and maintain professionalism across departments.
Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Phlebotomist in a hospital setting.
Certification: State licensure required.
Skills: Experience across all specimen types and patient age groups.
Locals only: Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the facility.
Pending License: Not accepted.
RTO: Minimal requests preferred.
First-time travelers: Accepted.
Days: 1:8
Nights: 1:3
Weekends: 1:11
Black or blue scrubs required.
