HR Manager | Traverse City, MI

Salary Range: $86,000 - $131,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for production, engineering, and administrative staff.
  • Oversee employee relations, including conflict resolution, grievance handling, and disciplinary actions within a plant environment.
  • Ensure HR policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, including OSHA regulations specific to manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement training programs focused on safety, skill development, and leadership for manufacturing supervisors and employees.
  • Administer compensation and benefits programs, including shift differentials and performance incentives relevant to a production workforce.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to plant leadership, aligning HR initiatives with operational goals and workforce planning needs.
  • Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and development plans for all plant personnel.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an HR Manager or equivalent in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state labor laws, OSHA regulations, and HR best practices relevant to manufacturing operations.
  • Expertise in employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, and full-cycle talent acquisition for diverse workforces, including production staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with operational goals and foster a positive, safe plant culture.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Multilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish) to support a diverse workforce.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour) or experience with EHS programs.
  • Proven track record in managing HRIS implementations or upgrades within a manufacturing context.
