The Heavy Construction division specializes in large-scale electrical infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients, including transit systems, highways, bridges, tunnels, and utilities. Work includes ITS systems, lighting, fiber optics, power distribution, and complex system integration.
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager and field leadership in planning, coordination, financial tracking, and execution of multi-million-dollar heavy construction electrical projects. This position offers exposure to high-profile infrastructure work and a clear path for growth within project management.
The Assistant Project Manager will assist in managing all aspects of heavy electrical construction projects — from estimating support and procurement through field coordination, scheduling, cost control, and closeout. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, field, and client teams in a fast-paced environment.
Support Project Manager with daily project oversight, planning, and reporting.
Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, submittal logs, and RFIs.
Track materials, deliveries, equipment needs, and subcontractor progress.
Coordinate with design teams, suppliers, field supervision, and utility agencies.
Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action items.
Help process and maintain change orders, contract documents, and project correspondence.
Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting.
Review invoices, subcontractor billings, and purchase orders for accuracy.
Help monitor job cost reports, quantities, and productivity metrics.
Participate in monthly project reviews and status updates.
Support implementation of QA/QC programs and field inspections.
Assist with ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements.
Help maintain safety documentation and coordinate with site supervisors to ensure safety standards are followed.
Maintain and organize project files, drawings, and documentation.
Track as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, and punch lists.
Support final project turnover and client acceptance.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
2–5 years of experience in construction project coordination or project engineering (electrical or heavy civil preferred).
Familiarity with electrical construction drawings, submittals, and specifications.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, Bluebeam, and scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera P6).
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with field and office personnel.
Preferred:
Experience in infrastructure, transit, utility, or DOT-related projects.
Understanding of cost tracking, billing, and job costing systems.
OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
EIT certification or interest in pursuing PMP certification.
Field and office hybrid role with regular site visits.
Exposure to active construction environments and varying weather.
Occasional evening or weekend work to support project schedules.
