About Us About the position: Benefits We are presently seeking to hire a Drafting Technician B for an opening in Syracuse, NY. In addition to a starting wage of $36.67 per hour, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, tuition assistance and more. Under general supervision in the Engineering Department to do designing of minor construction projects and minor parts of major construction projects of all types and to prepare and maintain related diagrams, maps, and records doing drafting work as required and perform such duties as:
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of 3D component cells of substation equipment;
- Assist in the plotting and processing of LiDAR data to generate 3D models.
- Develop simple drawings, parts of drawings and details from complete information assembled from various sources;
- Assist in the update of new and/or existing substation design standards such as description of design or drafting procedures, processes, drawings, and details.
- Test other design or drafting software/hardware and workflow to increase design productivity and accuracy.
- Occasionally take measurements and other data in the field;
Job Qualifications - AAS Degree in applicable Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent
- Knowledge of materials and in equipment used in construction
- Ability to use drafting equipment and computer aided design in a skillful manner
- Ability to work with and guide the work of others
- Proficient in 3D CAD software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or equivalent software.
- Full knowledge of projection view developments, view and scale selection and drawing layout;
- Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and schematics.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Must pass a validated aptitude test
Salary Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
