Menstrual Health
To address the barriers faced by women and girls in rural Ghana in obtaining menstrual products the Volta Pads project was created to manufacture reusable menstrual products that are affordable, sustainable, and sanitary. They’re produced by a community owned social enterprise that’s managed and staffed by local women.
- The major objectives of Volta Pads is to increase awareness among adolescent girls to menstrual hygiene,
- To increase access to and use of high quality reusable sanitary pads to adolescent girls in rural areas,
- To ensure safe reusable sanitary pads are environmentally friendly
- To minimize the cost involved in menstruation and menstrual hygiene
- To promote eco-friendly and quality affordable reusable pads
